The Bundesministerium für Land- und Forstwirtschaft, Umwelt und Wasserwirtschaft (BMLFUW, http://www.lebensministerium.at/) supports the Austrian Federal Government in the fulfilment of its tasks, in particular by preparing drafts of laws and ordinances, performing an advisory function for the Federal Minister for Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management; implementing Federal Government decisions, coordinating future-oriented planning, reviewing assigned technical fields in legal, administrative and economic terms, providing results from these reviews to the Federal Minister for Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management, evaluating the results of these reviews within the framework of the exercise of the duties,
exercising the duties of the Federal Administration regarding the tasks assigned to the Provinces in compliance with the Constitution.
The BMLFUW works together with stakeholders in the field of Organic Agriculture and Argreocoloy, NGOs, NPOs and farming enterprises and also with the University of Bodenkultur, Wien (University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna) and additionally, financially supports more than 100 vocational schools as well as the agricultural extension service.
