The University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Bucharest (USAMVB-FA) has been established in 1852. It provides Higher Education and Training in: Crops Production; Animal Production; Food Processing Industry; Forestry; Land Reclamation; Environmental Engineering; Biotechnologies; Management in Agriculture; and Veterinary Medicine. In addition, it carries out: R&D activities (in: Agricultural Production; Food Quality; Forestry; Rural Development; Environment Protection; Management of Natural Resources); Consultancy and Extension in Agriculture and Rural Development; Agricultural Production on 8200 hectares of Training, Research and Production farms belonging to the University; and Continuous Education. Since 1991, the University was and is involved in the EU Education & Training (Tempus, Leonardo da Vinci, Socrates/Erasmus) and R&D (PECO, INCO-COPERNICUS, FP-5, FP-6, PAXIS, eContent) programmes. The University Professors are members of the Romanian Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, members of the Experts Council of the Minister of Agriculture, Forests and Rural Development, or directors of the R&D Central Institutes for Agriculture and Natural Resources.

USAMUB-FA will participate in the definition of user requirements, as well as the design of the OA and Agroecology domain model of WP2; will lead the creation, population and deployment of the BIOAGRO learning repository in WP4; will also serve as one of the pilot universities participating in the trials of WP6, and it will contribute to the dissemination and exploitation activities as well.
