The Organic.Edunet Portal was formally inaugurated on Thursday, 29th of April in Athens.
The ceremony was hosted by the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) with great success, attracting many participants. The General Secretary of Agricultural Policy & International Affairs, Ms Georgia Bazioti honored us with her presence, pointing out the potential that agriculture presents for Greece as well as the importance of utilizing ICT tools to enhance agricultural and environmental education.
The keynote speakers of the ceremony were: Prof. Alexander Sideridis from AUA, Prof. Moschos Polysiou, Vice Dean of Academic Affairs and Personnel for AUA and Prof. Panayiotis Tsanakas of the National Technical University of Athens and the Chairman of the Greek Research & Technology Network S.A. All the speakers pointed out the need for encouraging initiatives such as Organic.Edunet that promote lifelong learning on such important fields such as organic agriculture and agroecology.
The ceremony was followed by two sessions on the "Viable Growth & Environmental Protection: Challenges and Opportunities for the Greek Education". Academics and teachers presented best practices and initiatives that are being used in schools and universities, showcasing some practical aspects of the environmental education
The day concluded with a workshop, during which, teachers were given the opportunity to design learning activities and get in touch with new technologies, applied in the field of environmental education. The participants really enjoyed the small workshop and hopefully gained valuable experience that they can transfer back to their classes.
